Come on Jimmy. Even assuming that those posts are true, do you not believe that there are as many incredibly stupid conservatives as there are incredibly stupid liberals? I don't like Tony Snow (he works for Bush), but then, I don't like anybody very much and I wouldn't wish diesese or death on anyone, anytime.
I think that you once posted that your dad told you that the world was going to disentigrate if Barry Goldwater didn't get elected president (as did my dad too), and they were both wrong. The difference between me and you is that I was able to "un-program" my old beliefs, and you are still in love with yours.

And this dumb website means what, Ed? That there are a bunch of evil dumb ass people out there?
Look, I'm not going to take anyone to task because of what they believe. People are free to believe what they want to. They can believe that the Republicans are for smaller, less obtrusive government and controlled spending if they want to. They can believe that the Democrats are for "the working man" if they want to. They can beleive that the moon is made of cheese too. None of that matters and just because you believe it doesn't make it true.
We believe what has been programmed into us, by our parents, by our teachers, even by ourselves.
Here is a case in point. When I was contemplating the purchase of a Rolls Royce Silver Dawn in the 1970's, I didn't know exactly what they looked like and didn't "see" very many RR's driving around town. Once I "got into them", I noticed that they seemed to be everywhere. Not a day went by that I didn't spot one driving around. Once I put the RR into my "belief system", all I could see out there were other RR's.
If you "believe it", you will "see it". If you don't believe it, it won't exist for you. Religion is like that too. If you believe in God, eveything that you see will reinforce your belief in God. If you believe that all Republicans are arrogant and corrupt, all you will see are arrogant, corrupt Republicans. If you think that all liberals are devils with arrowheads on their tails, that is all you will see.
If I only go to websites that reinforce my beliefs (about religion, politics, whatever), that is what I'm going to find. I will find exactly what I believe I will find. If I listen to right wing (or left wing) radio, all I will hear is what I already believe is true. It just reinforces my beliefs. A liberal that is listening to Rush Limpdick will disbelieve everything that he says, because he doesn't have the same beliefs. A conservative listening to Rush will believe everything is like he says, because it correlates with the conservative listener's beliefs. What Rush is saying may or may not be the truth and it doesn't matter. If what he's saying is in agreement with your belief system, it must be true. If it doesn't, it must be false.

I can't believe you would post that and then say, "One more reason why I hate Liberals". First of all, don't hate. Second, don't label a party because of the actions of a few. I am not going to dig up a site that's spewing hatred on human life and say that's why I hate republicans. Just because this Administration drinks through their butts, and poops through their mouths doesn't make ALL republicans that way. Two actually voted for the recently passed bill.

I didn't say Democrats I said Liberals ....however you seemed to assume it was Democrats...... its OK for them to say "Kill the President" and all the other crap they spuew out........ no one for 2 decades had the balls to defend us thats why we're here ...... Bush said it would be a long fight when he stood on the pile of rubble @ ground zero..... its a shame Liberals have no spine on dealing with it......... If it was about getting the troops out they could have pulled funding NOW ;) Kinda Funny they want them back in the election cycle......... Its about Votes ...... You assumed that I assumed it was democrats. The meaning of my post was for you to call out those specific posters and not a group of people. As far as no one DEFENDING us, every president DEFENDED us. Doesn't mean that will PREVENT an attack will it? When Bush was standing up on that rubble, he was not DEFENDING. He was launching a RE-ACTION to the ACTION, or RESPONDING. In other words, too late to DEFEND. When you CAN'T or DON'T know how to DEFEND with words and deals, and a situation arises for you to DEFEND and you start doing this:smt102 , death comes knocking because somebody gonna try you. When they see:smt102 , you get 9/11, and the RE-ACTION is war, and the future is stuck with the consequences, not the present or the BUTTON pushers. That's why I want a "PIMP" running the show. I don't need us getting "PIMPED" into another Iraq. Lord knows we got "PIMPED" on that one.

"I go off what I see, not what I can imagine." That is a true statement from you Carl, I'm surprised. The problem is that what we "see" is filtered by our beliefs, and may not be as "visible" as you think. Step back a little from what you see (or what you believe you see), move to the side and look at it again (meaning analyize it further with your brain) and see if it looks different. This is called "looking at something from another point of view", something that most of us refuse to ever do, espeically bald former Marines.

There is no way that a true conservative could have supported Bush, ever, ever.
I'm a true conservative and I voted for Bush twice, but then again I saw Bush as the lesser of two evils. Maybe if the democrats didn't nominate these hard left wing nuts jobs I would have given them a look. John Kerry wasn't Presidential material, and Gore is the biggest bullshiter in this country; don't you remember him saying that he invented the internet.
I don’t think that people who call themselves Conservatives today really understand what conservative means. I also have a serious problem with the religious right; I personally think they have no business call themselves conservatives.
O.C White
03-29-2007, 02:30 PM
How is it filtered if we see it first? You see it, you process it, and you apply an action simple.
You breathe in air, that is filtered by the hair in your nose to clean out the bad stuff and then it is processed.
Doesn't make any sense George. if you are not agreeing with what you see, then you are either hallucinating, or you have a drug induced haze.
Some people here see the same thing I do, some don't like yourself, and some agree with you, and some agree with me.
Just the way it's going to always be.
George Klass
03-29-2007, 03:11 PM
"How is it filtered if we see it first?"
Good question Gunny (I feel that I should be charging by the hour), and here is how. You don't "see" anything until your brain tells you that you are seeing something. Your eyeballs do not process anything, they just let in the light waves. Your brains tell you what your eyballs are responding to, and the filters I'm talking about have been programmed into your brain. Therefore, what you see has already been filtered through your belief system.
Here is an example. Take a ping-pong ball and dip it into some red paint, exactly half way. After the paint dries, hold the ball up in front of someone with the red paint aimed in their direction and ask them what color the ball is. They are going to say it's red. Not only are they going to say that the ball is red, they are going to swear that it's red. They are going to be so positive that it's red that they might be willing to go to war over it.
Now, with the ball in the same position, ask the other guy to walk over and look at the ball from the side. Now the guy is going to say, "well, now I can see that the ball is not red, but is red and white instead". Again, the same ball but now seen from a different point of view.
Are you following any of this Carl? The problem is that humans don't want to look at ANYTHING from a different point of view. They see what they want to see, and they think that they are RIGHT. To look at something from a different angle might lead to them to realize that they were WRONG, an emotional state that is not acceptable for most people, unless they are enlightend beings like me.

George,
if my eyes see a stop sign, my brain processes it, and tells my foot to get on the brakes.
Forget a ping pong ball, I ain't going for that crap. Why don't you just say hold a playing card up instead.
Hold a playing card up, what do you see? A playing card, look at it from the other side to see the value, and what it brings.

That is a trick anyway. The general consensus is the ball is round. If some dickhead took the time to dip it in red paint so only half is red, and half is white and then two other idiots came along guessing what color it actually is they have to much time on their hands.

George a 2 sided ping pong ball isn't something you see everyday. You say we are programmed with our thoughts and beliefs, I don't buy that. I relate programming to brainwashing.
Lets look at the armed forces here for a minute, and maybe you will see where I am coming from.
Army is much larger than the Marine Corps almost 3 times as large. We can do anything the Army does. Army can't do what we do. No disrespect to any Army brothers here, but they can't.
Our specialty is being amphibious. Army is like a big sheepdog, Marine Corps is like a Doberman.
Both can protect, and both can kill you, but one will attack, while the other defends.

George Klass
03-29-2007, 08:16 PM
And this has to do with what?
About our being programmed and that being the same as brain washing (a non term by the way), it's true. It's a fact, it works in the same exact way. You probably believe that brain washing is a negative thing, but it doesn't have to be, it can be a positve too. Your parents "brain washed" you to not play in the street in traffic, to not take candy from strangers, to not look up girls skirts or you would go bald (and you did too, you perverted bastard), to look both ways before crossing the street, etc., etc. Nothing negative about that programming, right?
Look at the "brain washing" (programming) you recieved as a Marine. They programmed you on how to stay alive, how to take care of yourself in combat, etc., etc. These are all positive brain washings (or programming), too, but they have been drilled into your head just the same anyway. That's the way you get beliefs programmed into you head, into your brain.
Beliefs are not automatically bad, unless they are limiting beliefs. Looking both ways before you cross the street is certainly not a limiting belief. That one is good from the very first time you knew about it until forever. But how about crying when you don't get your way? We could get away with that when we were 2 years old, but not when you are 62 year old. That is a limiting belief. True once but not anymore.
My dad said, "Republicans are the party of smaller less intrusive government." Based on reality, this was true once but not any more. Do you see the connection here? This would be a limiting belief today, or more simply, a belief that is not true. True once (when I was originally programmed) but not true anymore.
Anyone that hangs out with their limiting beliefs about something, anything, is just in denial about reality. These are beliefs that are no longer valid and need to be "re-analyzed" again. It's a daily chore and it ain't easy to do.
Here's another one I hear all the time. "If you don't vote, you have no right to complain." Think about that belief. Analyze it, word for word and you will see that it's a ridiculous thing to say, and yet, it comes out of people's mouths all the time. They believe it because it's been programmed into their subconsious. They have been brain washed if you will.
First of all, "complaining" is all about opinion. Do we not have the right in this country to have an opinion? Then, if we complain out loud, or on the message boards, do we not have the right to offer our opinins as free speech? Is there somewhere in our Constitution that says that free speech is not permitted unless you vote? There is nothing in that programmed phrase that holds water. It's entirely bullshit and yet, we see and hear people use that phrase all the time, over and over. The have been programmed to believe it, and it's a lie, it's not valid and it's not true.
That's when it's time to step back, step to the side and look at thngs from another viewpoint, another point of view. That's when it's time to dump a limiting belief and move on.
