OK. Automatic transmission tempature is real important for a bracket car with a trans brake. Where would you put the sensing bulb of an Autometer mechanical temp gauge? Would you use an "autometer tempeture mainfold" in one of the
cooler lines and if so wich one. Or would you put it in the trans pan with a bung welded in?
Thanks for any advice.

I would use a manifold in the cooler line. Lower line is out from the converter and top line is the return. Put the sensor in the lower line and you will be able to see the temperature on the run and shortly after the run, give it time idling in neutral and that will be a close indication of the pan/sump temperature. It will then make diagnosis of a problem easier if one should exist.

Hope this helps, Hutch
