We are going through my PG and the first gear set steels only had about .010 tolerance total, while the second gear set had about .090 total tolerance. What is the correct amount to have? I've heard .010-.015 per steel is good. If it matters, the car is about 3200#, drag radials (295-75s)-stock suspension, nitrous BBC (being built, so I don't know HP) PTC says the converter is their tightest off the self piece, 1.96, and 4.56 third member gear. Its got good TCI pieces in it.
Thanks

For a glide .010"/clutch plate is good (this does not include steel plates). Im not sure I understand which clutch's had which clearance. The band is low (first) the drum which contains clutch's and a hub is high and the clutch's at the rear of the trans are reverse/transbrake.
Regardless .010"/clutch plate still applies to bothe clutch packs in the powerglide.

Thanks, I'll pass this along, I think that answers the question though.

Hutch we took this hunk apart and sheesh. Low gear .092 clearance. High gear .01 clearance (not a typo) Nice new billet servo didn't fit well so it was beat in the case and hung all the way down. band adjusted 1 turn out. Dont know how it ran. Thanks for the info. Parts to fix it are on there way.

Really sucks to see whomever built didn't take any pride in their workmanship.Im sure it will work much better when you make the changes to it.
Take care, Hutch
