Low Gear Ratio

Hutch, I'm the fellow that was having converter problems with nitrous.
I have pulled the converter and sent it back for rebuild and adjustment.

I have been running the 1.82 low gear with the stamped steel sungear housing. Do I need to keep running what has worked or do I need to look at changing to a 1.76 set for overall strength. Engine makes 703 on the motor. Having converter set up to handle 200-400hit. What do you think on this. 1.82 or 1.76?

To be honest ,im suprised that the little 1.82 has lasted this long. You are really beyond the HP limit for even a stock 1.76 but for those who don't have the funds for a HD gearset I have used the 1.76 and had pretty good luck. Its a crap shoot with stock parts but some guys get really lucky , I seem to be lacking in the luck department.
When you get that converter a little tighter and transmit more power through the driveline ,you will find weak links.
I would suggest going with a good std 1.76 carrier. You will also have to change the input shaft to the longer 1.76 shaft unless you have a uni-length style input now.
