Need Help Converter Bind

I have a powerglide Trans with a JW Bell and it seems that my converter is binding up with the flexplate. I was wondering what the proper distance between the converter and flexplate is I only have about 1/16 if that. Has any one else run into this issue and if so what was the solution?

Re-try with the input shaft removed from the trans and see if the clearance increases. The spec is .125" to.187".Check this clearance on all mounting points of the flexplate to assure flexplate is not warped badly.
What is your combination? engine type, flexplate,adapters,trans case.

Everything is new. 302 base block, JW flexplate and JW bell. I am not running and adaptor plate at this time. It seems that I may have too.
