i have a twin turbo new body style trans am and we are going to have the downpipes exit out the fenders like on golobo's car . my question is once we cut the holes in the fenders is there a insert available to cover around were we cut so you dont see the imperfections were we cut. maybe like a carbon fiber piece that could be attached to the downpipes. thanks ray

Just buy a hole saw that is a 1/2" bigger diameter than your pipe and you will be good to go......:yawinkle:

Just make sure that if you do run the trubo exhaust out the side through a fender that you have dual turbos, one on each side. Do NOT run a single turbo with the exhaust out the fender.

Why not on a single?

Thrust! You ever see a top fueler drop a cyl. or two and make a move to the left or right depending on which bank dropped cyl.Pretty much same concept but constant pressure out one side of the car.You could still run it out the side if you want just Y it into two smaller pipes.

Good advice never thought of that but we have 2 turbos so no worries!!!

Wierd, Ive seen lots of cars with the downpipe out only one side and they seem to work fine.

We dont consider cars making under 1500 HP real race cars those dont count LOL!!!

You are probably right.

I was joking but my guess the pressure isnt nearly the same even with what we have compaired to a funny car making 5000HP. But I think it makes sense having 1 on each side in theory anyways!!

Many years ago, John Gullett had a single turbo with a side exhaust near his front wheel. He always had handling issues near the lights, from the 1000' mark. This was with his old green FOX Pro 5.0 Mustang. He changed the exhaust to go straight back, under the car, and on the first pass, the car went straight as an arrow and was the first Pro 5.0 to break the 200 MPH barrior.
If anyone remembers, Steve Grebeck had a side exhaust too, near the middle of the driver's door. Steve's father, Grant Grebeck told me that he felt that this was one of the causes of the car making the big hook to the left at the 1000' mark.
Anyone that has ever watched the TV show of an NHRA event, where they have that camera out over the track, past the lights, with the cars comming at you, and seen what happens to a funny car or a top fuel car when they lose a cylinder can understand the dynamics involved. All of the thrust of a 2000+ HP turbo engine, coming out of only one side, has got to have a bad effect.

Do you have any carbon fiber ends? for the exhaust coming out the fender?

Do you have any carbon fiber ends? for the exhaust coming out the fender? The rings I make are alum.I either have the powdercoated or polished. They are never the same from car to car and do not mount to the exhaust pipe. The pipe is mounted and then the ring is made and then the pipe is cut.I like to have a smaller gap bettween the ring and pipe than most so a mass produced piece will not work especially since exaust exit angles are are never the same nor the shape of the fender.Sorry I don't have any close-ups

Ya I saw his car up close at Milan last year when he was there with petty for the 1st time with new combo. The car looked great you guys did a nice job on it. Our car is at Pande's shop now we repositioned the turbos due to the fact we got rid of the radiator and fuel cell because we are going alchy so more room up front also had to add some bars to get the 25.2 cert. I saw the exhaust exit on the camareo and thought it would be functional and nice looking on the TA we have. Was hoping to buy a insert kinda hard to take the car to another shop for just that purpose hehe!!! Where is your shop located?
