Hi, I have a 66 Impala ladderbar/coilover car that has run a best 9.989 at 135.30 on a 1.481 60'. The car weighs 3715 race ready. I have had nothing but problems trying to get the car to hook up on the 275 jets out of the gate. I want to go back to the track in about 4 weeks with 325 jets and try it once again right off the brake. I'm also going to get a digiset timer incase I just can't get it to hook.

This used to be a 12 sec car and the old shocks worked fine but now that I need more from the suspension, I don't know what to do. I have generic Monroe $18 units on the rear now. I've been using these shocks since the ladderbars where installed by the chassis builder in 1999 (I replace them every few years).

It's a Chris Alston double adjustable ladder bar setup with a track locator.

I have Comp Engineering 3 way adjustable shocks up front set to 90/10.

No travel limiters.

My goal is to leave on the brake and have the bottle come on right away without having to pedal it. Is this possible?

What budget shocks do you recommend for this application?

Thanks in advance.

Strange dbl adj will be your best deal and you get a quality part.

Sweet, I'll get the Strange dbl's.

Should I replace the front shocks too?

Should I install travel limiters in the front?

Where should I start on the adjustments?

My ladder bars are about parallel to the ground, how would dropping a hole in the front affect traction?

Thanks again.

A strange sgl. adj. up front would be a good idea.Starting fairly tight(a couple of clicks off tight) and testing from there
I install limiters on every car I build with a-arms or long strut.I usually start tight with the limiters as well, limiting to about 3" of travel and loosening up from there.
Rear shocks start at a couple of clicks off full tight(rebound)and fairly loose on bump(four off full loose)
The more power you have the less mechanical help you need to plant the tire.Dropping the front of the ladder bar a hole may help you as well if your trying to hit it with more power out of the gate.

Great, I'll do all that.

Thanks for the help.

Just ordered single adjustable VariShocks and softer VariSprings.

Thanks again for the help.
