I have a ATI 8" converter in a th350 backing a small block. When it was new it would only stall around 3000 on the foot brake over time with runs we have gotten it up to 32-3300 rpm on the foot brake. I just started to use nitrous(175-200hp) on the motor last year now the converter will go around 3400-3600 on the foot brake and when I pulled the motor out and looked at the converter the paint is flaking off. my question is....

Is the converter finally broke in and that is why the higher stall?

Should I be concerned about the paint flaking of is this a sign it is getting to hot?

For the stall speed to increase, the converter would need to increase its internal clearance or bend the pump side fins. Its not really that common but it happens .
Flaking paint can sometimes mean overheating or just crap paint.
I would say while you have the motor out ,that you send that converter away for a checkup and have the converter upgraded to accept the additional power gained with nitrous.

Hope this helps ,Hutch
