I wouldn't go with flaming river...they require more modification then the Spohn unit. I went with the Spohn unit, they offer several for factory and tubular racks, only thing you need to do is weld in a support tab which is pretty easy. Here is the link:

I went with Spohn suspension all around on my 94 TA.

I went with the Spohn manual rack for my 1994 Trans AM. I think its better then the madman or flaming river rack as it requires less modifications, no drilling required. All you have to do is weld on a small support tab provided in the kit. Its a really great unit...it also comes with a steering shaft so you can get rid of the stock rag joint that causes all your sloppy steering wheel play. Pretty well rounded kit. I went with Spohn suspension all around in my 1994 trans am...would do the same thing if I could go back and do it again.

Bad link Brady.

I think that flaming river rack needs some work to well work but I could be wrong.

I've run a Madman manual rack and I've run a looped stock rack... The Madman rack drove great, the power looped one was a bear to park if you were parallel parking or needing to work a car into a spot.

Life will suck for you.... Pull the belt and you will see hahaha.

Manual steering (manual rack) is hard enough it tight spaces....

The power racks have a "lesser" gearing but you don't notice it with the pump runing.... take away the pump and its a tank compared to a manual rack.

I know it sucks buying a manual rack for $600+ when you can just loop your stock one. But believe me its well worth it, a stock looped rack is going to be a lot harder to turn then a designed manual rack with more aggresive gearing. Also think about the weight savings, the stock rack + power steering pump is a pretty heavy item. While your in therer remove the AC compressor, accessory bracket and relocate the alternator to the bottom! :)

I've already removed everything and got a lightweight altenator bracket. Car won't be driven on the street much. Seems like a bunch of people are just looping it...guess ill live with it till I get a k member

It isn't THAT bad if you are running little's up front.

If the raceweight is kinda light a stock rack is not bad, but if the car is a pig it gets annoying pretty fast.

True.... if you have the older 5 spoke vette wheels that are like 10 wide or whatever then I think like would really suck for you.

O yea without a doubt, if you do a manual rack or looping the stock one make sure you have skinines up front haha

And make sure you don't have a 13" steering wheel like my dumb ass

whats wrong with a 13" steering wheel? the Grant GT steering wheel is 13 3/4" which is what most people run in the 4th gens I think.

I had a friend who had stock Z wheels and rubber up front with a looped rack, I'm surprised his arms didn't get all swole up with that workout. :)

Maybe mine is smaller than 13" but it's a pain in the ass to turn the wheel with the stock rack:smt089

is there a cheaper alternative to a manual rack. like maybe one from a pinto? we are in the same boat with our drag radial car. it will see track only but we are not too sure if we wanna keep the stock rack with looped lines. and 600+ seems a little much for my cheap ass. i was looking on ebay and what about one from a 04 cavalier

Your gonna have to suck it up like the rest of us hahaha :-) I would run it looped before trying to put something there that doesn't belong from another car. Its steering, kinda important :-)
