Hey Jimmy,

Since your using a camcorder alot, maybe you can give an opinion here.

I'm looking into a possible camcorder purchase for tuning the cars chassis. Something a crew member can use on the starting line for later playback. I'd say the only high priorities are the ability for slow down or frame-by-frame playback, maybe image stabilization, and decent clarity. Color accuracy is not a big importance.

Also, would like to keep the cost down as low as possible...maybe $600 or less.

Any suggestions?

Any racers input here too?

Sony makes a great set of handhelds that do that. I personally have a DCR-HC30, which has been replaced with a DCR-HC32. I use a wide angle lens on mine to get a lot of broad footage. It will do playback frame by frame and the tapes are digital so ripping them to a computer works out very nice. The best part is that the camera itself can fit in a pocket pretty easy.
