the people don't relize that if a kid is living at home he still needs spending money and work experience. By the kid working that is keeping him or her out of trouble and helping out the parents. How many times have you heard a kid say he is working to help their single mom or their parents who have fallen on hard times.
So now they will hire illeagl imigrants to take their place.

Cooperracing,
you got a rebuttal to this? You were singing the song of the Democrats to get this raise increase now look at the after affects.
Let's see you spin this one.

Where are all the Democrats and George Klass at with this thread? Why aren't you screaming to high heaven with this? What it doesn't suit your southpaw agenda?

So what if he has to lay off some 2-3 people at his pizza shop? What about the other 20 kids that are making an additional $1 an hour? I will bet if you look in the local newspaper in that area you will find more than enough jobs for a teenager. Around here in Northern VA as a high school kid you can make 8-9 an hour, NO ONE makes minimum wage around here. Maybe in bumfuck Nebraska but not around here. I agree with a minimum wage increase and I am a republican. What is the statistic of people in the military that are democrats? 5-10%?

I am betting it is higher than that especially when some combat is going on. I don't knock them, and I really do not knock democrats except when they try and believe their party is better than the next. That is what irritates me about it. They both have strong points, but maintain some consistency for pete's sake.

Don't you believe that "your" party is better? If you dont then you really dont stand for anything, wouldnt you agree? If they are equal than you are an independent. Maybe I am wrong but thats how I see it. Hell I think the Rep. are a better party.

I guess I am Indy then :-D I think they both have something to offer, but some thing's like gun control I do not agree with the Dems about. Some thing's on abortion I do not agree with the Repubs about.
If a woman is raped by some psycho-path, I believe she should have the option of killing that fetus to stop from bringing another rapist into the world.
On the gun control thing, I would rather have it and not use it then to not have it and need it.
Man I hope that makes some sense.

I agree with both of your standpoints, Abortion should only be used in cases of rape and incest, not as a form of birth control. Guns...the more the Better. Just make sure the right people have them. I tend to side with the Republicvans on 90% of their views, but there are some I am caught in the middle on.

Saw a blurb on the news (can't remember which channel but think CNN) earlier that said for every 10% increase in the minimum wage there was a 2-3% reduction in jobs.
As far as which party is better I guess it depends on your politcal views. I trend Republican but I do have issues with them on several things. But I have lots more issues with the Democrats. I just wish we could get back to when they actually worked togther more. Now if either side comes up with a good idea the other side just bashes it instead of working together on it.

Don't you believe that "your" party is better?Carl and I are going to form the Revolution Party. I'll get all the rednecks and bikers on board and he will get the military support. Can't miss with that combination.

minimum wage should be LOWERED,, if you're worth a shit an employer will PAY to keep you,,, but if the worthwhile worker is getting Min wage and the slackers are too,,, the reason the wages for the worthwhiles hasn't gone up is because the Slackers are getting it.

The thing is,... the liberal commies aren't looking to have kids making min. wage, they want an adult working class making that wage supporting their families.... that is why they want it raised so folks can work at Walmart as a greeter, supporting 8 kids coupled with a welfare check.
That is all that will be left for jobs.

the dems dont get!!!! you raise minimun wage, the cost of everything else goes up with it!! so how did the increase help those affected by it?? if you make a 1.50 more an hour, but the cost of food, services, gas and your tax bracket goes up! what was accomplished?? except maybe additional tax revenue

Don't get me involved with this. I think the government should stay the hell out of this area entirely. I don't believe in a minimum wage myself. But then, I was all for re-enacting slavery too, but that was before Carl slapped me around a little.

And what's all this talk about which political party is better? In fact, what kind of party is this anyway? I don't recal ever being invited to one of these parties, and let me tell you, I know a great party when I pass out in one. I think it's time to form a new political party. It should be called the Party Party. We don't need to vote, we need to party. Tits, beer, food, some more tits, now that is a party platform that we can all get into.

Or would you rather they both kept their jobs at the pay rate they are at?
