The president's budget also includes an initiative to expand health care coverage to the uninsured through a complex proposal that would give every family a $15,000 tax deduction for purchasing health coverage but would make current employee-supplied health coverage taxable for certain taxpayers.

Gee...I wonder which "taxpayers" that might be? The Dems will be all over that one screaming, "Socialized medicine....socialized medicine.....we need socialized medicine!!!!"

They're all nuts. Time to run them all out of town.

If the Democrats were smart(lol) they would slash Bushes proposed budget and then pronounce themselves as the party of fiscal responsibilty. We all know it wont happen though. With a Democratic congress and a president who spends like a drunken sailor, can you say inflation. Best buy those hard assets now. Its Deju Vu all over again.

"Fiscal responsibility" doesn't quite fit the Democrats agenda I'm afraid. The surprising news is that it doesn't fit the Republicans agenda either anymore.

Although Republicans say they are fiscally responisble, they have never been either. Even under Reagan, government spending increased.

I have tried to make this point before but to no avail. It's our money these corrupt bastards are throwing around, to their friends in business, primarly so they can keep getting elected. It's a vicious circle and it won't stop until we stop voting for these bastards. ALL OF THEM. When we finally realize that all we are doing in marking an X next to one of their names is (as Bob Dylan wrote), keep on keeping on.

If everyone voted for a 3rd party it might change, however power corrupts.
Not voting period does nothing. Someone will always vote for the status quo.
Civil disobedience is the only way to truly change things.

Not voting IS civil disobedience, and it's legal too.

Ok take a million people and add it to the 50% who dont vote now. What do you have? Status Quo. Now take a 100,000 people in each of the top 10 cities(=1million), fire bombing the shit out of things. What you got? Surely you werent on LSD thru out the whole 1960's. One way will change things, one wont.

If it ever came down to several different political parties, each with a reasonable chance of fielding an electable candidate, then your way would work fine. People would then vote for the person that they feel could represent them best.

But with the two party system we have now, such is never going to be the case. People don't vote for the best candidate, they vote (those that do vote) for the lessor of two evils, knowing that they are going to get fucked, and hopeing that it won't hurt as bad with candidate A versus candidate B. That is not an exceptable system in my opinion and I refuse to be a part of it. Anytime you hear a politition tell you that "you can't ever change the system unless you become part of the system", you know that they are just talking about prolonging the system as it is.

Money is what makes the current system work, so follow the money and you will find the problem.

Only one thing will reign the government into check and not one single person here is willing to give up their cushy lifestyle to do it. Me included.

The founding fathers broke the law, and revolted. When it was over they were heros.

today, they would be terrorists. And the so called free thinkers would agree...

Terrorist.....I'd prefer to be called a "Revolutionary". Whatever term is used.....you are correct in that a revolution is the only way to change things.

Revolution anyone?

"Fiscal responsibility" doesn't quite fit the Democrats agenda I'm afraid. The surprising news is that it doesn't fit the Republicans agenda either anymore. Now, would that be Demoblican or Republicrat?
