how critical is the placement of batteries as far as weight is concerned. i am mounting 2 powermaster batteries in my nova, 10" tire ladder bar, 565 bb, and i was thinking of mounting them up above the rearend /shock x member, right behind the back seats. the reason for this was to try and clean up the trunk a little by moving them out of the way. the car will have a trunk mounted fuel cell also. is there a "right or wrong" place to mount these as far as weight placement is concerned. would that be to high, to far forward etc etc? ive always mounted my battery (s) and seen them mounted in the rear corners of the trunk or sometimes in the middle low down by the fuel cell. anyfody have any input on this?

That should not be a problem, if you have the space there. It kind of depends on the car and the weight distribution the car already has.

I've seen a few recently built Super Stockers where the battery is being placed just in front of the rear tires with access through the wheel tub. These were on some cars that previously were known to have wild wheelstands -- I would bet that the battery placement has something to do with controlling those wheelstands whcih translates into quicker acceleration.

appreciate the info, wheelstands will definitly be a concern as this is a no wheelie bar class car.

Locating the weight towards the ends/corners tends t change weight distribution the easiest/quickest, locating the weight toward the center of the car is not as effective but usually results in a quicker reacting, easier to control car.
