hi Hutch
i was wondering if u could tell me on average how much power a th350 can take? my dad is building a new motor and if he doesn't have to he doesn't want to switch transmisson. (means modifying the floor, new drive shaft obvously) i dont think he will run a trans break.
thanks for the help
Mike
I have one in my nova with a 580ci bbc and nitrous motor made 970hp and have srayed it 250 and had no trans problems.the only thing I have to do is every 60-80 runs I check the output shaft to see if the splines are twisted.

I usually rate them between 5 and 600 hp . Some guys have had good luck but reliability can be an issue beyond that. What are you trying to put in front of a 350?
Let me know, Hutch

My dad is running a 489bbc. all motor 13.2:1cr brodix bb2X cam undecided yet tho. he has no idea what this thing should make for power but he wants the tranny rated for around 850hp just to be safe.
thanks again

I really think the 350 will not be reliable at that hp level. By the time you spend good money for what parts are required to make that 350 live you may as well do whatever you need to do now to get a T400 in there if a 3 speed is what your looking for.If you want a drop in for the 350, a glide is also a direct fit.
Im sure there are 350's that will live but I would not advise any of my customers to go down that road if they have a choice.
Hope this helps, Hutch
