Will an Auto Meter Data Logger lose flash memory setup info if disconnected from the battery for a long time?
Last time we went to the track, it was tits up after about a year of sitting. Quick graph was just garbled lines. I have not tried to re-set all the channel info yet, but I'm hoping that's all it needs.

Depends on the actual age of the unit. There is a "battery" in the system that can go south and we started finding these about 5 years into the mission, meaning that if they get to be 5 years old or so, they need attention.
For further and more up to date info, contact Doug Lemons who takes care of Data Logger Service at Auto Meter. He can be reached at 815-895-8141, then press 2. Whom ever answers the phone will get you to him from there. Before I left the company we were fixing those under an extended component warranty. Haven't heard of any change in that policy to date.
You can also look to see if the settings are there by pressing Play, then Cal, then View Cal, select the channel desired and the data logger view screen will show the settings.
Keep me posted on your progress with this.

Ok thanks Mike. It's at least 5 years old. As soon as this freakin hurricane does it's thing and I can get back to it, I'll let you know. 8)

Mike,
I spoke with Doug about the problem and we decided on a few tests, but it may have to go in for service. He did say the battery is integrated in the memory chip, so it's not a simple replacement. :-damnit
I finally got around to checking all the system settings; so far it looks ok. The quick graphs were at least readable after cropping, with the biggest snafu being the ds speed; 65000 rpm. I don't think anyone makes a set of rods that would live through that, lol. I'm going to re-plug the ds sensor and try a jackstand test run. Fingers crossed.
