Yeah, I'll be there later so help a friend with his license passes. Won't be driving my car, just hanging-out.

Mike, I'll need your help next! ;-) I ran a 10.0 @ 134.5, no burnout, 1.47 short time... Once the chassis is dialed in for launch, I think with the MPH, I'll see high 9's, what do you think? I was driving a red Mustang Hatch, only one there tonight.

How difficult is the license process?

Is your car legal? (Cage certified, window net, etc.....)

After that, you need to get the forms (NHRA website) and go get a physical from your doctor. You need to finish your passes within 6 months of that physical. First four are a joke. If you have mufflers on the car (not bullets) you can do all of them on a Friday night or Saturday. Last two are when you need to go 9.999 or quicker OR 135mph or faster. That MPH thing seems to change from time to time. I had to go 9.999 or quicker so that is when I got hooked on the juice!

You need to make sure there are two liscensed drivers to watch you when you do the six passes. Saturdays can be a problem, usually not too may fast cars there unless the Corvette 8.50 guys are there. I sometimes go down to hang-out and work on my car.

Mike,

The car is fully certified to 8.50, window net and all the other requirements.

I had a physical done last year when I thought I would drop the motor in and go 9.50 on my first run ;-) Obviously we've progressed at a nice pace, from a 11.3 (2.1 60') on my first run down to a 10.0 (1.47 60'). I am note sure if I should start the process now, in late August. Like I mentioned, I can't jump down to any track at any time. I will be lucky if I make it out two or three more times this season, but that's okay. ACTUALLY... if the physical is dated in September, I can make passes up until March of 2010. That might actually work.

I really need to focus on fixing the idle issue (i have absolutely no carb knowledge or experience) and the chassis. I have a Wolfe ARB, but I have a feeling it was NOT installed correctly by un-named shop. I need to take pics and post them up here for advice.

Once I get the physical, can I just start making my passes, or do I need to submit the paperwork first?

Thanks for your help, Mike... much appreciated. I very well may ask for your help one day soon.

You need to fill-out the paper work first. After that you have 6 months from the date of your physical to finish the 6 passes. The first 4 are easy, they are partial passes. The last 2 are what will really matter and that is when you need to go quick/fast enough to finish.

Use the first four as tuning for your engine and chassis. You can't go fast at that point anyway. Make two hard runs to the 1/8 and coast. Make two hard runs to the 1000 and coast. After that, 2 9 second runs and you're done!
