I have a Griner billet brake in my TH400, and I have one small complaint. It takes a second or two for the brake to engage when I push the button. I can hear the solenoid as soon as I hit the button, but that is without the car running. When I stage I have to be careful not to release the foot brake for a second or two after I engage the brake button. This is an internal solenoid brake if it matters. It seems to be release real quick but the starting line deal has me a little concerned.

The quick release brakes sometimes take a bit to set-up. It doesn't mean there is a problem with it unless it just started to happen and was fine before. Check all the obvious first , fluid level, make sure the trans vent has no restrictions that would alter fluid level and that the shift linkage in 1-2-3 are set perfectly.
If your running a pro tree you may want to "prime" the brake by hitting the transbrake in prestage to fill the clutch drum ,then it will setup faster the second time you apply the brake.

Hope this helps, Hutch

Thanks for the reply Hutch. It has been like this since new, and the rest of the stuff looks good. I wondered whether it might be a pressure problem, but it appears Griner isn't around anymore. I'll try the prime deal and see what happens. I run on a .400 pro tree, and at 3600 lbs, every little bit of advantage on the tree helps! Thanks again, Rick

Steve Griner is around but can be somewhat hard to get a hold of. He is a one man band and after all the years he has been in business the phone's ringer may have stopped working by now.
If the internals of the trans looks fine, the pressure setting of the regulator is also where it needs to be.

Let me know how you do at the track.
Take care ,Hutch
