Arent they illegal to catch? lol You must not fish much. I wish I knew what I was going to catch. I'd tell them non world record fish to stay away from my bait. I have seen em way bigger than that one in the Keys back in the late 70's. They are a protected species there fore you must release them if the fish is still healthy. Most parts of the U.S. they are called a Jew fish. In. Cal. they have a fancy name for them. Black Sea Bass. Caught one in Mexico bout 100 miles south of SD. It took almost 4 hours on 25lb. test Berkley and weighed 286lbs. They dont fight much. They are like catching a big bat ray. They will just swim off and set on the bottom. Its like trying to reel in a tire. Nice fish!

The Jew fish (goliath grouper to keep the jews from bitching) is illeagal to harvest in the waters off Florida and in most federal waters. Fighting one of these big boys is like trying to pull a moving Volkswagon off the bottom of the gulf. Lots of fun!!

Yep, as stated above they are also called Goliath Grouper, and 250 lbs is nothing for the big ones
