Just a couple of quick fuel storage tips.

1. Never use a plastic jug or drum for fuel storage. Jugs are for transferring fuel for a weekend or just from the drum to the fuel cell. They are porous and will vent into the air, and the fuel will go stale and pull condensation. Always store your fuel in a steel drum, preferably lined, and it will stay fresh for some time. I personally have a 15 gal. drum in my trailer and use a 5 gal jug to dispense into my car.
2. For those that have drums, never leave the siphon pump in the drum. Take it out after you fill your jugs. It is plastic and will vent off the light ends of the fuel.

3. If you live in a climate where the temp. changes rapidly put your drum up on a 2 by 4 to let air circulate under it. This isn't necessary, but it is just piece of mind.

4. Always tighten the bungs on your drums so no vapors escape and condensation can't get in.

These are just a few tips. Feel free to add your own.

I like storing my fuel on one of these drum dollys. It keeps it off the ground and makes it easy to move the barrel around.

I don't know if they still sell it or not. But what do you think of the bung set up so you can fill the drum with nitrogen? Is this overkill. Or good if you have fuel that you will not use for a long time?

Thanks

I think Carl Mcquillen had a setup for doing that.

I've seen a couple of AMA Superbike teams do the nitrogen pump thing. I haven't really seen a reason to do this, but once again, it's just like the 2 by 4 or Monsons dolly. Piece of mind. I just recommend keeping the bungs tight and you should be fine till next season.

I just put the left over fuel in my lawn mower, save 20 minute on cut time. :-D

For you cold climate people I suuggest using it in your snow blower so you can throw all your snow into your neighbors yard.
