Any good suggestions for fixing cylinder head casting porosity?

I've got water seeping through a head and need to seal it up once & for all.

Thanks!

Ultra seal. Inc. 269-465-3631. Ask for Brandon

He will be able to seal them up. He does the new ZR1 blower hosings from Korea that leak.
He just did some work for a freind of mine.

That is our business. Sealing casting porosity. We do all of the Corvette oil pans, all of Melling's oil pump bodies, various cylinder heads, intake manifolds, a/c compressors, gas regulators engine blocks, fuel pump handles, Tank transmissions, Hummer tail light housings, ATV power steering pump bodies etc. etc. Our shop is ISO registered and one of a handful of businesses that are in the industry.

Read up on Mil-Std-276A and Mil-I-17563C and it will give you the government specs that we process to.

GM cylinder heads are impregnated every day. GM L850, I5 and I6 heads were/are 100% impregnated after machining to seal porosity/leak paths between the water jacket/intake & exhaust runners / combustion chambers. Those heads were made with lost foam tooling and were like swiss cheese....

At one time we were running 1100 Gen IV GM blocks per day for over a year and a half. We have a shop with 12 employees and have been in the business since 1987.

Give me a yell if you want more info. Tim has my contact info above.

It's not bad enough to require welding. It's just slightly 'sweating' through the castings but it's in some pretty critical areas like the exhaust port (causing the cylinders to slightly rust at the top of the bores), or in a couple spots in the areas between exhaust valve spring pockets (putting a little water in the oil). Out of the six Big Chief heads we currently have, 3 are leakers. I just talked to a guy from CFE yesterday who said all of their stuff goes out for impreg sealing whether it needs it or not so I'm pretty sure this is the way I'll go - especially since this can be done after machining.

Brandon - I'll call you on Monday to discuss price and time frame.

Thanks!
