Hi Jason, congratulations on your new/old job. I've got part of a drum of VP-N02 left over from my nitrous days. I've been tempted to try it in my 565 F3R deal. Your engineers at VP give me conflicting comparisons of using C16 and N02. I've been running the C-16 and will probably stay with. But would like to use up the N02. What do you think??

Ron,

Sell the NO2 to one of your nitrous buddies. Even though it is a higher octane fuel than the C16, it is not meant for forced induction. It has too light a specific gravity for your combo. Just sell it. I'm sure someone from the board would love to have it.

Thanks,
Jason

Not concerned about the lower spec gravity, I can jet for that. The Distillation specs is want gets my attention in regards to mechanical heat of the blower.

How you getting anything done? You must have key board jet lag at bed time.

Ron,

hahaha The NO2 won't make it through a non intercooled application. It will probably start turning to vapor before it gets to the intake valve. My recommendation would be to sell the NO2 and stay with the C16. Thanks again

Jason

Oh, the job is going great.

Thanks Jason, those were my thought's too. Distillation was just to low but it's nice to hear confirmation. I really like the specs on that VP Import stuff. But it's double the price of C16 and is just to painful on the budget.

Blessings and be safe........Ron Clevenger.

Pooch--how about a comparison of C16 vs C23? Any power to be found switching to C23? Does C23 have a narrower tuning window than C16?

The C-23 is a lot worse than the N02 as far as distillation goes. All things being the same you would lose power and incure detonation earlier.
Actually the N02 distillation numbers are not that far off from the C-16 and it's 4+ points higher in octane.

If you really want some killer gas check out the VP-Import. But it's at least double the price of C-16. But if you are class racing it would be worth 3-5% power.

You can check all these figures out on the VP website under the "Spec Sheets"

I don't think the import fuel will pass a fuel check.

If you are spraying a ton of nitrous, 3 kits or so, C23 or C23+ will be much better than C16 in terms of detonation resistence. This is what the pro mod nitrous guys usually use. C16 is the best turbo / blower fuel out there in my opinion. I wouldn't recommend it for over 400 to 500 horse of spray though. There are better choices. The NO2 for instance. The 23 does have a narrower tuning window, but it is pretty forgiving if you're off on the tune a bit.

Monson is correct. Import will not pass tech at a nmca or nsca event. It is primarily an outlaw type fuel. It did just get approved in the sport compact series though:D

Thanks for the questions guys!!
