Pro Tree brake

Hey hutch. Looking for some advice. I want to change my tci bracket style trans brake valve body to a Coan pro tree brake. My tranny builder, Ron Shilling ( think you know him) tells me the valve body will be a direct replacement and no other mods(to the case etc) will need to be done. He suggested i could easily do this myself. Although i trust Ron, I really wanted your opinion on this. Thanks.

Mark, I assume you have a glide?
If so you can change the valve body and its not too big a deal. The pro tree brake valve body installed by itself will only give you a partial pro tree effect.
In the kit there will also be a set of really heavy springs that will also need to be installed in the reverse piston, which is the last part removed from the case on a complete teardown.
The new valve body will work fine without the heavy springs installed for now and you can put them in the trans on the next freshen up.

thanks hutch. Sorry yes it is a glide. Coan tells me just the valve body should be .0400 quicker in reaction time. This seem right? even without the springs?

.040 would be a ton but it is possible. Make the change and it will tell you. The slowest glide I have ever seen was .085 and that was an internal solenoid design. The fastest I have ever tested was .014 . The springs can be worth .006, its not much but the entire package can add up to the claim of .040.
