CLASS RULES…
To qualify for the 8.50 Index race, you must be 9.00 seconds or quicker. In order to expand the eliminator in the 1st round, the qualifying field must be 9.00 or quicker for all cars. In qualifying, if anyone runs quicker than 8.50, you are placed at the bottom of the ladder. If you run quicker than 8.50 in eliminations, in a double breakout, the driver closest to 8.50 wins. If you run faster than your car chassis is certified to run by the NHRA, you will receive a warning. You will get three warnings. After the third warning, penalties will be enforced included round loss and loss of points.

Please post all of your questions here, and Keith from Finelines will answer them tonight. Thanks very much!!! See you all on Friday and Saturday!!

Three warnings per race weekend or three warnings per season??

The rules that NHRA require are the minimum for the ET and the MPH they are certifying.

There can not be a 1% rule as ------NO ONE IS PERMITTED------ to go faster than their car is certified for( as per division one NHRA).

When it does happen in qualifying your run will count, but you go to the end of the ladder. When it happens in eliminations, the racer that is closer to 8.50 wins . Regardless of the cars chassis certification.

The rule that was taken OUT of the existing rules reads as follows:

“Anyone that exceeds, in what is acceptable by NHRA standards, for the ET or MPH for the class they are racing will be banned from the class and possibly suspended.”

For safety’s sake ----if your borderline for yours cars chassis certification----its time to upgrade.

Take it easy------Don’t want to make it a 8.60 class as suggested

Well, it was TJ and Gary R in the 8.50 final. Both left as one from the tree, Gary was skating around at mid track on while TJ was straight as an arrorw. TJ over Gary. Fianl ET's not 100% sure, but Gary was 8.60, TJ was 8.54 (I think).

Pretty good turnout for the class.

I stuck with the slowwwwwwww guys since I don't have 8.50-deep pockets. ;)

I'm my opinion it is crazy to expect someone running an 8.50 class to upgraded to a 7.50 spec chassis. If enforcement of the rulebook is truly an issue then the class should be changed to an 8.60 Index.

What about the rules for the car. Will my car qualify as an 8.50 type car?Did they change anything on the 8.50 index..My car has a two piece nose/hood and fiberglass doors.Hood is seperate. It has all functioning lights front and back, signals etc.Interior is carpeted only one seat, and I have door panels. They are aluminum and painted flat black.OEM Dash. Its neat and clean.I will be putting 33x10.5 tire in rear.Mufflers are two chamber Flowmasters.I read the rules twice does it sound like it will fall into that class? They told me to call back later at Raceway Park.No one could give me a straight answer.
Any input would be appreciated.

Call Keith Mitterman at Finelines, he is one of the main people behind this program right now: 732-872-8160.

W.P. at Raceway Park is the other person to talk to but with the National Event this week I doubt you'll be able to get ahold of him.

I couldn't agree more. Trust me, I am all for safety. But this is an 8.50 class.
So you should only need an 8.50 cert. God forbid anyone hits the wall going an 8.48 or an 8.50. What frigging difference is it going to make to the car or driver? None. Don't blame the E-Town or Keith. They are top-notch. Just thank the people that complained to the tracks.

When i seen you and Mike Romeo in a final....i wanted too, I could have written a great story on that one, " Two Mikes, each a killer at his kind of racing, finally meet in an all out drag out knock down final, The cars as different as the racers. One a heads up/index racer, the other a seasoned bracket racer. The cars..one carburated and one fuel inj,....Lock horns in a battle of the better man...All this results in a double breakout, that undoubtedly had two masters staring across eye to eye at the stripe !!!

Hows that?? Ill get you guys next time for sure, as long as its ok with Michelle :-D I know a lot of the Atco index guys as i raced 10.00 there for a number of years, They are a nice bunch, very competitive, and very friendly...;) EXCEPT at the tree LOL

Are you frigging NUTS? I have to ride to school, the mall....etc. with Kimmy
driving. I found 4 gray hairs this morning. Gotta call the hair chick. I need a break from the white knuckle ride!!! But if Joe really wants to drive the golf cart...he's more than welcome. (I won't be in it) lol

I'm sure Michelle would be happy to have you do a 10.0 Index write-up.

You are right, those Atco and Cecil guys are tough on both ends of the track! I had to run a 10.002 to take out a 10.006 in the semis!
