This is the forth sturgeon trip I have made since April 1/09. We started hooking fish right off the bat from the first trip. Lots of fish between 3 and 6 foot.

But yesterday we hit the Behemoth. We decide to stick to one small section of the Fraser, our plan paid off. We hit 6 fish, a couple babys around 2 and 3 foot. We also hooked 3 fish between 4 and 5 foot. But then all hell broke loose when this pig hit. Funny thing is their was no bites, the rod just started to bend and bend and bend. 1 hour and 38 min. later we got her in to shallow water to unbutton it and take a few quick pictures and let her go. Over all lenght was 10 foot 2 inches and with a girth of 55 inches. Doing the math I would have to say that this fish would come in somewhere between 400 and 450 pounds. This puppy was hooked on eulachons. When we started to chase this fish it took us up river agood 6 or 7 hundred yards before turning around and running down river. We beached it a good mile and a half from where we hooked it. Since their was only me and my fishing partner I could only get a few quick pictures before we relaesed it.

This is the second largest sturgeon I have hooked and released on the Fraser, my largest was a 10 foot 6 inches with a girth on 59 inches.
I have hit tons of fish between 5 and 7 foot but when you hook a big fish like this it really makes this fishery worth while. B.C. has a total catch and release policy on Sturgeon anywhere in the province. Hopefully I will get the chance to hook, play and release this puppy again :) :) :)
