Went back out with open headers, car went 9.98 on motor but was breaking up in highgear. Thought it might be to lean added fuel but the miss started sooner. But the early numbers where better. Think I might have a fuel pump or carb problem.

Quick question, why didn't you go with the CHI 3V heads?

I got a quote from chi for $3800 for fully cnc ported head. But I found a set of c3 local for $2000 that where ported by Rick Swayne of Livernois Motors. So I thought that these would be a good buy until I had to change the valves and springs to clear my cam. Than I found out the head requires a shaft mount rocker another $1200. My old set of yates that where on the car are from the 80's so I was using crane golds on 7/16 studs with no problems.

Should have went with chi would have been cheaper in the long and just as good.

Whats the ignition?
MSD crank trigger?
Whats the spark plugs gapped at?
And what spark plugs are you using?

6al with the piggy back programmer
ngk 8's on the motor and 9's on the hose

If you still have a "miss" regap the plugs to .025 to .028 that may be the problem

Don't get me wrong but the 6al might not have the "juice" to fire off the fuel/

Thats what leads me to say this as you had said, you added more fuel and it or the miss got worse.
Look at the ignition box,you might want to go to a digital 7 or a 7al box to cure this miss
thats my .02

I had a programmable 7 on it but at the time I drove it on the street alittle and burned it up it about 200 miles. So I put the 6al back on. But your right if I reduce the gap the 6al might be able to fire it. I'm may have found the limits of a 6al.
