Besides the length of the snout. Any other mods required to use a LS7 crank in a 6.0 iron block? and would it be worth the expense to leave the snout long and adapt the LS7 dry sump oil systen to my LS1.

Thanks

If you leave the snout long you'll have to also consider running all Vette accessories too for the waterpump, alternator, etc. if you have them. I believe that crank changes up quite a bit of the packaging. You don't have to run the LS7 dry sump setup with that crank though. There are plenty of external dry sump applications from Daily Engineering as well as Armstrong Racing Engine Systems that will fit up to any of the LSX motors.

What sort of combo are you going to run that you want to try and marry that block and crank together anyway?

Its going in a 25.2 cutlass that will run in some of the Milan classes. Im just slapping together a decent carbed LS motor to get the car out. Dont know if it will be procharged or a nitrous motor yet. Dont care about the alt. or drive acc. since it will be a custom. I heard of balancing issues and rod journal radius not working eagle rods.

If you want a stock crank, just stick with the regular style LS6 or LS2 type cranks. Even a LS1 crank would work fine. You have to make sure you get the correct crank for the sensors that you have though. The LS7 crank should be running the standard pattern tooth wheel whereas the others (unless it's really new) should have the older multi tooth crank trigger wheel on them. The cam sensors are dependent on the block as well.

I'm not sure about balancing issues other than the sensor wheel sometimes scares shops when they balance them. The wheel is not something that you simply take off and put on again, it does have a precise way of going on the crank.

Thanks, with the parts I have the car should go 860-880 on one stage. Could the stock crank work, probably, but I can get an LS7 crank for $200. Remember, i'm carbed, so if I use the edelbrock box I need the sensors but I might try the conversion for the ford dist off the timing chain cover, not sure though. I'm leaning toward the ford dist and no sensors for less hassle.l

Jason, I can get you a 4" stroke Bryant crank with 2" rod journals for $1000.
