Hey Jason,
Curious what the official word is on balancing from M/T? Front/Rear any difference? What do you guys recommend?

Balance them, front and rear, bias or radial.
x2, why not balance them.

I recommend bubble balancing the rears. The fronts can be spun or bubble balanced.
Thanks,
Jason

Thanks - was just curious I've always balanced mine, but I know a LOT of people don't balance them and don't seem to have any issues.

Good luck finding anyone around anymore that can bubble balance tires for you. I've tried every tire shop in the 4 counties around me and no one can do it. I have the rears spin balanced and they usually take a bunch of weight but haven't had any vibration issues either. I may try removing the weights and see if it even makes a difference cause its a PITA to have them balanced all the time!

Could you explain why you prefer bubble balancing the rears?

I would like to hear that too... We've gone 193mph on one that was an ounce and a half off [rear]... It's a pretty dramatic harmonic..

Sorry guys, let me explain further.
The bias tires should be bubble balanced. Radials can be spun or bubble balanced..
Regarding bias drag tires. When spin balancing there can be some "movement" going on within the tire. This is with your "typical" spin balancer found in most tire shops. Commonly you end up chasing the weight around the rim. It can get you close, but that's why we recommend bubble balancers. The exception to this would be the "hand spun" type balancers (no motor). These are typically slow enough to keep the numbers reasonable. Many people use these for a "dynamic" balance. (Placing weights on the inside and outside of the wheel)
I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Jason

If you're buyin' slicks on a regular basis, you'd be well served to by your own bubble balancer. Picked up one and kept it in the trailer for about $90.00.

Brian,
Where'd you find it? I just had to pay the tire shop $25 to spin balance my latest set after they were already mounted! Thanks

Do the slicks stay balanced after multiple runs and burnouts? Has anyone checked them after the initial mounting?
