I have been running a MT 3055- 28 x 10.5 x 15 on my car in sig - 85 camaro - gutted - fibreglass hood & lexan hatch - other weight mods

I have been playing with gears since as we run both 1/8 and 1/4 mile at our track - and the 4.71 gear is my best gear but proves too much for engine when I am on the spray going to the traps

I want to keep the gear - and get a bigger tire under the car -

I sectioned the wheel wells this weekend to clear a 30inch x 12 (goodyear) tire I borrowed from a friend

I don't know if I plan to go all the way to 30inch x 12 now - as the 12 sticks out a bit past the fender on my 10 inch rim

but MT seem to have mostly 29.5 x 10.5 - like the # 3062 series but they seem to have many different versions

what would you recommend for a drag effort car say about 3000 lbs - looking for about 600+ hp with nitrous -

- my combo has been good with the 3055's but our track prep is not always the best and so alot of guys use goodyear D1 softer compounds -(but they are lighter cars and have bigger motors than I do)

I just put larger tires on my car as well to reduce the rpm through the traps. I went from the 3055S to the 3062S. Dropped my trap rpm by 400 rpm's. The 3062 is actually 29.9 inches instead of the advertised 29.5. I would suggest you try those in the stiff sidewall version. Also a few racers at my local track swear by the Hoosier 18215 it's a 30 X10.5 radial slick.

I'd go with the 29.5/10.5-15S (part # 3062S). The additional rolllout will help the gear and traction. It will give you good life with the combination you have.

Thanks for asking.

THANKS - by the way what is a radial slick - is it like directional or does it have grooves like a regular radial - ie. et streets??

There's no grooves in them. They are the same as regular slicks except they are radial tires instead of bias ply. I don't think they are directional.

Another thing , I'm pretty sure there is no tire growth in the radial slick like with a bias ply tire.
