Why do people say this is the best country in the world when they have never been to any other country? Do they let the 5:00 news decide that for them? Is it because people tell them it is? Is it because they are happy and just figure it is? If this country became a 3rd world country, would people still stay here? or would they go find a place they can make a better living for their family?

If you're a wimpy loser like Johnny Depp........go to France. We're just too aggressive here!! :-D
Seriously Monty, I don't know. But I have plenty of friends and relatives who have travelled the world and they all agree..........this place IS the best. Everybody can't be wrong (Unless you're outside the "box" :-D )

It also boils down to deductive reasoning.....what is important to your life and is that value impeded or restricted in other countries.

The oppurtunity to make choices that can improve your life and your family's life without the boundries of class, caste or many other limiting factors.

Has it been easy for me as a black man in this world.....no but am I going to sit and 'itch and moan about it.....nope...my parents raised a winner not a whiner.

http://www.toocooldesigns.nl/menus/images/Never-give-up-Frog_small.jpgI am like the frog ....I will never give up cause you never know what is right around the next corner.

I have been out of the country a few times and will probably again a few more times before I see Pat Lynch (who I wish I had more time to chat with than the short time I did) and my dear friend Jim Wittenberg.

There are a lot of things people actually come to a decision about with never truely experiencing. For example.....me skydiving and bungee jumping are not things on my list of enjoyable activities. I could never understand the need to jump out of a perfectly good flying craft. Also playing the Fartgame with you Monty...just not one of the things on my list to experience in life. Why...cause I know my farts stink too.....so why would I want to smell yours or someone elses....even though I have never smelled any methane that has escaped from your biological containment system.

Monty,

as you know I have been to other parts of the world and I am going to have to say, we might not be the best, but we are the most fortunate. But are we? What other country in the world has all the major weather disaster i.e tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding, earthquakes, drought, heatwaves, coldwaves, you name it.

What makes people mad at us, I feel is we do not call out to other countries to come to our aid, we take care of our own, and plenty more around the world. Just my .02 cents and it ain't worth very much. :D

I would say we are the best all around country. We are not the best at everything. Look at health care and the direction it is going. Before to long anyone that wants to retire will have their retirement checks paying for their health care and they will have to find another job to support their family.

We have to much government that doesn't give a crap about anything besides itself.

This country is run by big corporations and what they want they get. Look at the airlines. Where else will a court allow United to file bankruptcy and dump their pension plans. Who picks up the tab. We do the taxpayer.
