View Full Version : yet another 29.5 x 10.5 question

I am currently running the 29.5 x 10.5 #3062 on my car. The actual measured section width on a 10" wheel @ 12 psi is 13.5". I can't go any bigger. How wide is the #3062S?
My car weighs 3300 lbs. It usually 60' in the 1.35 to 1.41 range. Would the stiff be a better choice than the regular sidewall?

The 3062S is the same, give or take .100". I would lean towards the "S" tire, if anything just due to the weight of your car. I'm not sure if you'll see a big improvement in ET, but it won't hurt it. Your reaction times could be a little quicker, and they will last longer.
Thanks for asking,

Is the growth of the "S" tire any different than the regular tire?

Not to any noticable amount.

Just FYI, 3062S on a 12" wheel measures 15" sidewall to sidewall.
Best move we made was going from a 10" to a 12" wheel and from the 3062 to 3062S. We had to notch the framerails to fit the new "monster" lol.
Nothing to brag about but we have a new best on a smaller tune due to the tire working better. 5.651 @ 124.01 with a 1.311 60' at 3295 lbs.

We were running 10 psi.

I noticed my reaction times were a LOT better with the new tire, but never thought to attribute that to the tire. Thanks Jason!

The regular #3062 on 10" inch wheels measures 13 1/2" on one side and 13 3/8" on the other. This was at 12 lbs. So far I've had a best 60' of 1.359 @ 3300 lbs.

We were running 10 psi.
Thanks a lot for the video. You may want to try working your way up on air and see if it runs any better. Just a thought.
Thanks again for sharing.

Thanks for the comment and video review Jason.
We will try some more air pressure during our next session. What would you consider too much? The weekend before we were able to make 2 passes, 1 on motor and 1 on bottle. With 15psi and 1 kit, it blew the tires off on the hit as if I was launching in water. I killed the nitrous, cruised out, clicked it into high and nailed the throttle at half track where it spun the tires again... I did do a really long across the line burnout, maybe I heated the tires up too much.
We thought 15psi was too much so we went from one extreme to the other and 10psi seemed to work good enough since we were mainly concerned about tuning the nitrous.
Thanks again.

I'd go up one pound and see what it does. If it likes it, go up another pound. Keep going in one pound increments until it doesn't help. Then work to find a happy medium.
Thanks,

Mine seem to work well at 13 psi. I've tried 10 psi and it was really loose down track.

Roger. Will report back with my findings. Next session is April 3-5.
