Jason, I'm leaning towards a set of Hoosier as they seem to be the tire in the class that I'm running due solely on size that I was told. BUT since I have not ordered anything yet, please inform me on the benefits of the MT over the Hoosier's?
MT that I'm seeing are: 3062/3062W, 3062S. Hoosier's are 18192 series. I know most know things about there competition, and was figuring on what you know about these.
Car is 1100+Hp BBc 1967 Chevy Nova chassis car, 4 link. Car weighs from 3050 to 3250 depending on bias/ MIGHT have converter or clutch.
Thanks, John:cool:

Thanks for the question John.
First, I do not want to speak for Hoosier specifically, but as far as the basics go, it is a bigger tire in rollout than all our 29.5 tires, and has more tread width than our 3062(S).
While not apples to apples from a size perspective, there is obviously more to consider. Some of the record 10.5 runs on our tires have been on the "shorter" rollout sets. Size isn't everything.
In this case, I prefer to let the product speak for itself. We continue to have numerous champions and records on our 29.5/10.5 products. We monitor this closely to make sure we stay on top. Our tires are aggressive, yet less prone to shake. We specifically design the stiff tires with constructions and compounds that suit the application. We then spend significant amounts of R&D on all our tires to make sure before they hit the market, they outperform the competition, or our current tire if that's leader in the market. Know this, if ANY change is to be done to our tires, we WILL always test it in the field to make sure the performance did not suffer and it meets expectations.
I could get into detail on the design of our tires, but I can't let the total cat out of the bag - right?;) One thing for sure, with the weight of the car, and the power you are making, the stiff sidewall in the 3062S and 3062W will help performance and tire life over any "non-stiff" tire.
Looking at your tire choices, I'm assuming the series you are running will allow a tread width wider than 11.0"? If that's the case, our 3062W will be best suited for your combination.
Thanks again. I hope this helps.

Jason is busy working at the ADRL race in Houston right now.
I am sure he will get back to you as soon as he can.
For the past couple years i've ran 3068W's an a set of 3065's (13.5 wide). The middle of last summer i switched to the Hoosier 18192's an have never had a better tire, it works on a bad track better than the 13.5 wide MT's on my car. I've got a 632 with 2 kits @ 3300lbs an its been the best tire for me. The car 60ft's better an doesn't get loose near as often, just my experience. I don't think they would last as long as the MT's on a bracket car though, I say try em both out an see what works for ya, lots of cars run both makes.

Thanks for the reply guys. I'm REALLY leaning for the "W" tire due to the fact that I think it will be the best for my application.
Butch, I know these guys up here use the Hoosier, but I really think the 3062W will be better for me with the Liberty and the recovery on shifts. I have the space, and will take the 50 hit. Just came from the engine now, and I think we'll be OK this year, as long as you keep dumping @ 900;). SO WHAT are these rumors you speak of?????
What would be THE BEST rim size for the 3062W??

John,
If your going with the clutch, the 3062W most certainly a good choice. The M5 compound works great on a clutch car.
As far as rim widths, I'd go 12-13.
Thanks for your questions.

Jason, what are your thoughts about the 3062W on a 14 wide rim?? Also, check your PM's. John

Honesty, I'm not real keen on the 14" rim due to the shape of the tire. If you did go the 14" route, certainly, I would recommend bead locks at that point as well.
I think 13" would be the widest you can go and still optimize the package.
If you went to the 31.0/10.5-15W, the 14" would be no problem.
The taller the section height, the wider you can go. As mentioned above, the tire "shape" will dictate this to some extent as well.
Thanks,
