I have been running the 3055S tires on my 3400# stock suspension turbo car (about 1300 rwhp) for a while now. I know that this particular tire has had considerable development since its pretty much the tire of choice in NMRA SSO (so I have noticed).

There is a local class that allows the 3055W tire to be run with no weight penalty. I don't see as many of the 28W tires around overall, so would the increased width be that much of an advantage over the 3055S?

These tires are on a 12" (non bead lock currently) wheel if it matters.

Thanks,
Chris

You are right, the 3055S had significant development before it was introduced. The 3055W was brought out many years earlier.

Regarding performance, it will be close to a draw. The "W" tire may be a little more forgiving when the track is bad, but the 3055S will be better overall. If you elect the 3055W, I would suggest the use of a tube with the weight of your car.

Thanks for the info. I'll likely just stick with the 3055S as it also fits a couple of other "true 10.5" classes that I may choose to run in.

Thanks,
Chris

Its still apart right at the moment. Don Bailey is getting me a new cam and I am finishing up the Turbo400 install. Then there is the front end limiters, new front wheels, new valvetrain parts, wireless cable blaster, etc... It never seems to end. It seems that no matter what little plans I have, each winter ends up costing me $10K by the time I finish screwing around with things. Its a sickness....

As long as everything stays steady on the job front I should have the car out to the track by late April at the latest.
