Same reason people race, for bragging rights and fun. Pretty sure this one will be in the record books for a while, supposedly it weighed 1800 lbs.

I thought that too, till I noticed that they had the ears propped up with a stick, and nobody would stuff one with the eyes closed.

I think they're staged, the perspective seems wrong and the focus doesn't look right, the guys look a little blurry compared with the boar like they were much further back

Hogs do a lot of environmental damage, and they breed like rats. One of the animals most DNR guys don't mind you shooting and then leaving where they lay to go shoot another one.

Hunting hogs really is about like hunting vermin, except you can eat 'em.

I haven't been hog hunting yet, but want to go. I lived in Florida for 7 years, and now in Georgia, and ferrel hogs are a big problem in both states.

Your right, lets get a few of them together and turn them loose on your place, if you have one.

Just suppose he wasn't out "trophy" hunting, and was hog hunting for some pork. This big old boy boy waddles by and guess what, it happens to be a trophy!

That big fellow can sure do some damage to "whatever" it is hungry for or mad at!

yep, the people in the pics are well behind the hog, but its still a big un.

So if your hunting for hogs and see a big one you shouldnt shoot it??? Now why would a hunter PASS on a large animal like that? Just because it is a trophy does not mean the man was trophy hunting. I have a had several deer one would consider a trophy ... they wound up in the freezer all the same and have not one mounted deer head in my house. Heck the antlers arent good for anything! U can even stir the gravy with them.

I would have to agree with Brad, I have been to both Georgia and Florida and anytime I went drinking in either state the bars were full of hogs....

Trophy hunting is the untimate conservation technique - you remove the old -- past there prime animals and let the rest propigate -- let the young servive -- most trophy hunters go home empty handed --thats why the "trophy" is so valued, its the uninformed "anti hunter" that spouts off due to ignorance on the subject -- Engage brain before opening mouth - -

The original pictures show the animal in grass in one picture and dirt in another. Were they moving it around for different poses?
