I believe personal wealth (what ever that may be for the indivdual) is out there for the taking. Two times in my life I've achieved what I thought was personal wealth only to piss it away, may be this time will be different, I'm doing it someone else besides myself.
In any case, I don't like to "badged" in any class. People are gonna try to run you down and catagorize you only because they don't have the nuts to get thier own. If it was easy everybody would be "rich"

Rod....your in a country that You have the opportunity to be what you want when you want.....The Government was set up to 1) Protect us from Forein invasion 2) Protect us from ourselves (law enforcement)......We have gotten so far off as a Nation with Social Entitlements that we forgot to Protect ourselves (both areas) I always hear Bashing of "Class Envy" from Liberals.....Supporting their Voter Base....Lazy Ass people that want handouts......I want to work.....if I must watch how much I make as to not be in a "Higher Tax Bracket" ....Thats just plain WRONG!!!!....The more I make the Cheaper the Tax Rate should be.....I always hear "You can Afford It" thats Bullcrap.....I'm a regular workin stiff....However the Government has me listed in the top 10%.....Drive by my house I'm in a Middle Class Neighborhood....yet I pay more in Taxes then 75% of the people living in my state

Ex-mil spending, Ex-rebate checks, Ex-inflated export numbers , and we're in a recession. It's all about cooking the books with Bush. He said there will be no technical recession on his watch and, damn it, there won't be. Every other economic indicator is down except for GDP.
Wait for Q3 numbers to come out. Mil spending will be the only thing propping things up.

No one should fear!! The stimulus checks should be out soon (if they have not already) and that will recover the economy!! Just make sure you invest that $600 in a place that will give you 300% in return so you can afford your tax raise next year.

If you run a business and need a loan, generally you have to submit a detailed business plan to get the money. If you're a politician, you submit campaign "promises" to the voters ... but no politician, or party, is required to submit a business plan to the voters (sure, economists will give their opinion on the viability of the promises, but there is no detailed plan). If they don't have a plan, how can they run the country?

They can't. We see it play out time and time again that politicians are only good at running one thing. Taking money and running it swiftly to deposit into their Swiss bank accounts.

Text of the link I posted in #49...
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The U.S. economy is headed into rough seas and important economic indicators to be released in the next five days will show weakness, but the data are expected to be just the tips of the icebergs of the sharp slowdown lurking just out of sight, economists said.
"The trend is getting weaker -- momentum is fading," said James O'Sullivan, economist at UBS in New York. But the data this week surely won't be as bad as October data, he said.
The full impact of the credit crunch will be felt in the October data, O'Sullivan added.
The push by Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson for government rescue of the financial sector has captivated headlines and obscured "consistently deteriorating economic data," said Richard Moody chief economist at Mission Residential Research.
The first iceberg of September data is the Institute of Supply Management survey of manufacturers released on Wednesday at 10 a.m. EDT.
The survey is widely regarded as an excellent gauge of business sentiment and conditions.
So far this year, the ISM report has been holding up fairly well. The index has been averaging just below 50, not so bad given all the talk of recession.
For September, the consensus forecast of Wall Street economists is for the index to slip to 49.8 in September from 49.9 in August. Hints of weakness came in several of the regional manufacturing surveys released earlier this month.
Joel Naroff, president of Naroff Economic Advisors, said the ISM factory index is stable in part because the worst of the summer auto plant downsizings are now over.
The second iceberg will be the unemployment report on Friday. It is the one of the best and broadest gauges of current economic conditions.
Economists expect job losses to be the weakest so far this year. The economy has shed jobs every month this year. Economists expect job losses to accelerate in September to 85,000, just a bit worse than 84,000 jobs lost in August.
BTW please look at the date of this post. Republican president with the highest amount of republicans in the house... Oh how great the republican party is.. I think they should pay the 700 billion from their pockets.. not ours!!
The money in their pockets is ours. The only way to make it theirs would be to change the tax code.Eliminate income tax and replace with a cosumption tax. It's by far the fairest tax,it promotes saving and makes everybody pay from the dope dealer, illegal immigrant, politician right down to the hard working middle class who have been picking up the tab for too long. You control them when you control your money and that's why it will never happen.

I agree with you on the consumption tax but you're wrong in a HUGE way on the middle class footing the bill.
The vast majority of income taxes are collected from people making over 100 grand a yr.

Where do teachers make 30k a yr????????:confused:Around here a 10 yr teacher is 80k+ with gravy benefits. They dont pay SS tax either. On a percentage basis,ya I'm more burdened then someone that makes 30k.The only fair way to do it is make everyone pay the same percentage.
It's not my fault they dont take advantage of the unlimited opportunities in America.A career change may be in order if they're not happy with their income.Dont stick it to me because I'm more motivated then them.

How long has the Bush administration had to correct this? If it was so risky why wasn't anything done about it? A Republican's motto.... "When in doubt, blame it on Clinton." Personally, I think it's Taft's fault. He had his chance to get Bin Laden's great grandparents. If his grandparents had been caught, the Bush family never would have been doing oil business with the Bin Laden family 80 years ago.

However it was Reagan/Bush that actually designed and planned for NAFTA and again it would've passed with a veto proof majority!!!!!

Correction my friend, while Clinton signed NAFTA, Reagan/Bush designed, orchastrated brokered the deal and had a veto proof majority even if Clinton had threatened to veto.
That's something that the neocons fail to acknowledge.

While looking at the Senate vote, I don't see a two-thirds majority to override a veto. I also believe Clinton wanted this. I also believe there are other players calling all the shots and their plans transcend whoever is in the White House.

Clinton established this with controls and stipulations..The Bush administration opened it up by ignoring any and all control provisions within the agreements...open the corporate spillways...can you smell the stench of lack of oversight and free market out of control...it's here, but to hear it from the Republican position...

To get right to the point.......if Clinton/Gore were in office it would be front page News......Why doesn't the Media give any credit to this Administration?
Dave Ramsey had a guy on the other day who had an article about how the good news wasnt being reported. For starters they pointed out that the GDP has yet to shrink. They pointed out the facts you posted plus some others like last month new house hold worth had gained from last year.

IMO, the GDP is being manipulated. It's the sole technical indicator to qualify the beginning and end of a recession. I provided some interesting links earlier in this thread.

Is it me or does BJ subscribe to the communist way of thinking?
If you speak out about the government you are Anti-American!
If the government makes the wrong decision you should still back it up!
If the economy is going to shit you should let the people who brought it to that point continue doing what they do without saying a word!
If we engage in an unjust war we should still back it up!
If you spot corruption within you should just let it slide and not say a word!
One should never say anything against the government otherwise you should move out of the country!
BJ doesn't understand what freedom and democracy is. But he seems to have communism all wrapped up.
I would die for my freedom while BJ would give up all his freedoms just to be safe. Maybe I'm wrong but I highly doubt it!!

You Liberals are the greediest people on earth.

I agree with you on the consumption tax but you're wrong in a HUGE way on the middle class footing the bill.
The vast majority of income taxes are collected from people making over 100 grand a yr.
There was a sticky at the top of this page awhile ago but it's gone now.
On a side note I've made more money in the last 8 yrs then I ever have in my life.
On long Island 100 grand is middle class. Why do you think people are leaving here in droves, although the housing slump stopped that to a degree. The taxes here are insane, along with electric ect.1800 sq ft ranch house 1/2 acre middle class area 10,200.00 a year.
