Question for you, gonna be my first time on this tire come spring, what is a good tire pressure to start with, running a 10in rim with a sb nitrous combo at 3150lbs.

Also what kind of 60ft's are the heavy hitters running?

Not sure which brand of tire you're looking at running, but you'll end up somewhere around 12-13 psi on a 10" with 8.5s.

The fastest 60' I've heard of on a 8.5 is 1.27. My personal best is 1.29.

I'm thinking about running the hoosier 8.5 on my cutty . 3500LBS BBC no2 stock sus. with 10inch wheels . is anyone having any luck hooking with something like this? I have a 4.10 gear and I was thinking I might have to change the gear ?

17 psi worked very well for me. 1.28 60s on a mild tune @3225#FordSux:

You'll find most running 12-13psi. Robert Hollingsworth did run a 5.52 with a 1.28 60ft with 17psi. Those that 60 ft well are few. there are maybe 5 cars I can think of that 60ft. 1.32 or better consistantly. The rest are in the 1.37-1.45 range. As far as gears go we run 4.30's and have planted 4.56's. Vern House used 4.30's last year and Robert has 4.30's or similiar. You all will love this class once you figure out the tire.

Yeah to the guy with 3550 cutlass you better either find a way to lightin it or definetly go to a 3.73 or 3.90 somewhere in that range otherwise you gonna be strugglin to get that big bastered movin!

I really cant see the tire being harder to work with then a radial tire !!! Alot of us at milan switching over to this class are coming from radial tire racing !!! Hopefully Im right about that and dont fight the tire all year ;)

I hate to break it to guys but the MT radail is superior to 8.5's maybe the new outlaw 8.5 hoosier might be compartive but David Wolf and others on the MT radial went low low 7's at over 190!!!!!:-Daw!!!!!!!:-Daw

110% impossible on 8.5 slick tire just don't think would be stable enough at that speed! Plus don't think you could 60' with the MT radial! But may not be 100% correct on the 60' part! Maybe some you guys could tell me what is the best 60' you've had on radials!

Ive been 1.23 on a hoosier radial !!!

But the car will run within .05 et to the 1/8th when it goes anywhere between 1.23-1.29 60ft.

I hate to bust your bubble, but I've been the same 60' on the 8.5 as the radial also the same et with same tune and weight. So much to your suprise the radial is NOT far superior..Also as bad as I hate to beat a dead horse I think this was proved at Hardinsburg, the same blue cars were in the finals on the slicks as the radials. And running the same et so quit with the freaking radial is better crap, its all about chassie set up and tune on power:smt089FordSux:

See that was my line of thinking also !!! With the radial you have to dead hook it or it blows off the rim. With a slick I could imagine you could get a little of spin and wheel speed and still 60ft good.
