how do i determine a flow jet size? Isnt there a formula to get the jet size?

If you are using a fogger.. Always use a .068 - .080 jet.. Personally I used a .073 jet.. Why? I have no idea.. It's what I had.. Keep that jet in your flow tool.. Dont just use any jet after that.. This one jet will become your master.. Not all jets are created equal..

Monty,
Were you using a Holley carb .073 jet or were you using a .073 Nitrous Flare jet? Some guys get confused.

Its a nitrous pill that checked .073 with a pin gage..
Wow, thats interesting. I thought I remember having to run a specific flow jet size based on what jetting you had in the fogger.

Not all jets are created equal.. Meaning sometimes a .068 will out flow a .072 jet.. So keeping the same jet in keeps this from happening.
I understand what your saying.. Ill tune off the .073 jet.
I was going to disconnect each fuel feed line at the solenoid and install a flow jet in each line and take my pressure reading at the fuel pressure regulator.. So should I run a .073 in each side when I flow it to set the pressure? Or do I divide that .073 by 2 and run a .037 in each side?
Thanks.

if you run a nos fogger with a square jet set-up...i.e. 36F-36N...you are correct there is a formula to calculate the flow tool size....which all you are doing is flowing it with the total square area of all the fuel pill openings thru one holley jet-
(it does work)
if you run a staggered setup in the fogger...i.e. 36n/32f...i used a holley #70 jet
and based the tune-up on that jet....i think any jet in the 70 range will due the same thing but u need to stay consistent with that jet while checking your plugs and dropping fuel pressure--
I need to order some parts to do this..
I was kicking around 2 different methods of setting the fuel pressure.
1st method was getting that digital guage from Koeheler and taking my reading from the 1/8 pipe port on my 2 port regulator. i was going to make my own jet holding tools out of some -3 fittings and braided line, I planned on installing a jet into each fuel line when I flow the system. Here is the guage i was interested in below.

Next method would be to simply buy 2 flow jet tools from either wilson or barry grant and install one on each fuel line. Here is their tool..

what do you think? both will cost about the same but Id rather do the Koehler guage deal if its an accurate way of doing this.

check out www.sonnysracing.com
he's got one for 129- for the whole rig....looks like a nice piece...
it looks complete ready to use...
mine is similar but i use a 4" liquid filled ASHCROFT industrial guage...they say the bigger the gauge the more accurate the reading....
i've seen some pro mod people with 6" dia. guages...

You only need to unhook one fuel line from the regulator and attach the flow tool to that. Hooking up to both lines is not neccesary.
I ended up getting one from nitrous supply for about 125 with some jets included.
Here is a pic of how im setting the fuel pressure.
Do you guys reccomend setting it with the engine running ( im running an alternator) or just do it with the engine off with a fully charged battery?

That seems to be fine. But I would recommend a holley blue regulator for your nitrous. Also one fuel line off the regulator to the flow gage is enough to flow it. You can (i have always) done it with a fully charged battery with the motor off. Also do not solid mount your regulators off the motor. Let them hang off the hoses.. Your regulators will love you for it..
Yes I heard the holley regulators work good for nitrous..Any idea why? Also, will these work for larger nitrous shots ?
Im pretty sure this is the regulator that I need, just want to double check...Max pressure regulator in the link below?
