Tornado Chasing!

Who would want to get a group together and chase tornados? Now i know some of you will think im crazy but ive always wanted to do that! Tornado season will be coming up in a couple months :-D

I think so also. They are scary as hell but something attracts me to them. Especially since i moved out this way. We get warnings all the time but havent had any come through my town, been close though.

I think they are pretty cool, last summer we were vacationing in south Haven Mich. i was out swimming and a real dark storm came in real fast, so i stood up in the water to walk ashore and i see this woman with a weird look on her face pointing behind me , i turn around there was 3 water funnels heading my way . that beach cleared real fast.. 1 came inland about a mile it was running parallel to us driving back to the Hotel...

I dunno lets all try to get something together! Id say in a couple months is when the season will really start to pick up. Maybe need to figure out the best area to go? Or we could have a few locations cuz i know its hard with everyone spread out. I know there are places that offer this type of expedition, i can look into it :)

try Kansas! I was lucky they never came very close to my house. Greensburg was only 50 miles away. Shouldn't have to worry about them now.

The first week i moved to Merrillville im sittin on the computer and three people message me asking if im ok. Im like yea why? And they said oh because a tornado just ripped through Joliet and its heading your way. I was like holy shit lol. No more third floor apts for me!

Another time Kenny and I damn near drove into one, it was
dissipating right in the middle of the road, yikes. Even through all that and a few other scrapes ive been in, i still wanna go chasing. Ill bring the video cam :-D

THEN when I was driving back up at the end of the 4th of July weekend, on I-65 right before Gary, Ind, I literally saw one fingering down to my right, on the horizon. The sky was absolutely WICKED looking both times.

Little FYI...
I don't know if any of you are amateur (Ham) operators but they have some training that maybe up your alley so to speak if you like to do this. I have been a Ham for 20yrs now. Almost all of the major storm chasers are Amateur Radio Ops that keep in touch over VHF or UHF radios.
The training I speak of all the Weather folks and Storm Chasers take is called "SKYWARN" training.
When I took my training years ago it was free you just have to sign up and be a ham I believe.

We living in the sticks are all volunteer fire dept here also so we have to spot for the community along with the Hams.

One more note hams are the first to gather this info on the ground for the weather service always!!!
