OK, so playing with the White Balance on my D80 is kicking my butt... I miss the old Grey cards...

So I see this little ExpoDisc Digital White thing-a-ma-bob....

Does anyone use one of these things, or have any tips?

I leave the white balance set to auto, except at night, then I switch it to "flash ' setting.

I use the expodisc and I LOVE IT!

If you are good enough to use a white/grey card, you will enjoy the quality and ease of the expodisc.

Set it to manual focus.
Aim the lens to the light source.
Click.
Set to custom wb.
Shoot.

I tried that, but doing some stuff in my light box the pictures look like fito's butt... I was able to play with the WB to make them look OK, but I'm still learning.

Don't think I was good enough to use the grey cards back with my film stuff, just had them ;) I think I forgot everything I knew about cameras, but taking a few classes so hopefully they'll teach me a thing or two.

Is it pretty easy to use? I've read reviews online, but they seem to go from one extreme to the other.

Yeah, it is very easy to use...all you are doing is diffusing the light...I bought the biggest one they sell and just hold it over my lens.

X2 I get in more trouble when I start custom setting things!:)

That's actually what the gal at the camera store told me to do. She said rather than buy one for each lens just get the big one, and hold it over.

Most of the time I just leave it in Auto, shooting RAW all the time lets me change it later anyway.
