Do any of you guys have something like a basic lens for a Cannon XTi that you would want to sell on the "Cheap" side. I don't want anything fancy, just something my wife can use to take some photos inside of the kids etc. My new camera was purchased as a body only and being a photo newbie, I didn't realize that the 75-300 I purchased after I got the new body wouldn't be good for this type of photography. If you have something like this laying around that you are not using or know where I might start looking, I would really appreciate it. I was hpoing that one of the lenses from our old 35mm film camera might work but the auto focus doesn't work even though they will attach like the others. I'm not trying to sound cheap, I just hate to invest a lot in a lens that I personally will never use very much. I don't know what you would suggest but just an all around short distance lens would be great. I'm not looking for the high end stuff either so thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Mike, check E-bay. Lots of inexpensive lenses on there. Maybe like a 17-85 or something.

craigslist in your area, 28-105 canons are fairly cheap also. Maybe you'll luck out and get a good one that isnt a plastic piece of junk like the new ones. Try b&h photo also they have alot of used stuff, you cant go wrong with them.

If it is a 28-135 I'd take it for that. I buddy is looking for a lens to start a kit with. He's just picked up a 20D and needs something to attach to it.

Another quick question about the CANON lens. (maybe I spelled it right this time...lol) camera? I'v had several people say they will fit but the auto focus doesn't work from one to the other. Is this true? Thanks for the advice on here too BTW. It's very helpful for a noobie camera guy like me.

Some of the older lenses have been known to not work with the autofocus.

Any EOS camera, can take any EF lens, the old FD will not work. Now there are some EF-S lenses, these will only mount on the 1.6 crop cameras, like the 10, 20, 30, 40, 50D's, Rebels etc. They will not fit on any "1" series EOS body.

WOW, that's a kit lens? I guess I've never looked into them either! I know he's looking for something a bit less than that.
